Partners HealthCare (PHS) is a not-for-profit health care system that is committed to patient care, research, teaching, and service to the community locally and globally. Founded in 1994 by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, PHS includes community and specialty hospitals, a managed care organization, a physician network, community health centers, and other health-related entities. As a part of the Partners network, Partners HealthCare Innovation develops and enhances the commercial value for Partners technology, ensuring that our research and insights benefit patients.

 

Innovation Fellows Program

The Innovation Fellows Program is a career development initiative that seeks to increase collaboration between the Partners HealthCare community and industry. It is an opportunity for a personnel exchange between PHS core hospitals – Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and McLean Hospital – and participating biopharmaceuticals, venture capital firms, and other commercial entities.

The Innovation Fellows Program matches the interests and qualifications of candidates and objectives of the host organizations, with Fellows Project focused on:

  • Industry: Drug or device development, clinical trial design, regulatory affairs, reimbursement and portfolio management
  • PHS: Clinical and laboratory research, asset commercialization, teaching / education

How is the Partners Innovation Fellows Program unique?

  • Customize the Innovation Fellows Program structure, design, and duration to meet the objectives and needs of all participants
  • Collaborate with Harvard faculty and clinicians at world-renown hospitals with mentorship from senior Partners HealthCare leadership, along with industry players within the Boston and Cambridge biotech community
  • Develop an expansive network through department rotations, elective courses, and hands-on training

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications to apply:

  • MD, PhD, or a joint degree.
  • Clinical Fellows must have completed their residency
  • Research Fellows must have more than two years of post-doc training.
  • Faculty eligible
  • Available for 50-100% effort
  • Duration between 6-24 months as required per project

Who Should Apply:

Individuals who meet the requisite qualifications currently, or anyone who will have the requisite qualifications within the next year.  Innovation will place all applicant information in a database for current or future positions as indicated on application.

  1. For placements beginning in Fall, 2017 or 2018, please submit the completed application and recent CV in PDF format to: InnovationFellows@partners.org.

PDF file name should follow the below format:

  • Application Form: Last name underscore institution underscore department (Last Name_XXX_XXXXXX)
  • CV: Last name underscore CV (Last Name_CV)
  • Institution set as BWH, MGH, or McL

  • Fellows Program Manager to send postings for open Industry Host positions to applicants for consideration
  • Program Selection Committee reviews candidate applications for Industry Host opportunities
  • Candidates ranked per best match to Host opportunity

  • Selected candidates’ application and cv provided to Industry Host for review
  • Industry Host may conduct in-person meetings, phone screens, or other means to ensure candidate fit
  • Selected candidate/Fellow will start at designed Host opportunity at a mutually agreed upon time
  • A PHS Mentor will be assigned to each Fellow
  • Fellow and Mentor will participate in an "off-boarding" process with Partners Innovation staff prior to starting Fellow's Project
